- What’s coaching and how is it different from counseling?
With 20 years of counseling experience, I blend the two. I started to learn and use coaching with great results and realized my personal style was more similar to coaching. This tends to be a short-term, strengths-based and solution-focused.
What that means is I focus on what is working for you and bridge that to improve the areas where you feel stuck. I don’t spend a lot of time digging in your past.
I use specific skills, tools, exercises and activities that have been part of my training. I work from a holistic, non-denominational spiritual perspective. I use New Thought principles, such as the Law of Attraction, and have for years.
back to top - Are you going to tell me what to do or how to do it?
While I won’t tell you what to do, I figure by the time you come to me, you are looking for some guidance, advice or direction. Some counselors won't tell you what to do. That blank mirror can be frustrating, and time-consuming, too!
I will help you sort through the options and help you with whatever decisions you make. My goal is to help you make your life better.
back to top - What’s the process and how does it work?
I offer an individual coaching program where you and I meet three times a month over the phone for 45-minutes for a minimum of 3 months. Longer sessions are sometimes necessary and pro-rated and charged accordingly.
I also offer coaching on a per 45-minute session basis. You can inquire about the individual coaching programs we offer here.
During your session, you will often get an assignment that will help you toward your goal. You and I will review your progress each session in order to help you stay on track and focused.
back to top - How often do we meet and where?
We generally meet once a week or every other week. This way, the process stays continuous, and you can feel better sooner. With most people we meet by phone. Interested locals can contact me about in-person sessions, but most people like the flexibility and comfort of phone sessions.
back to top - Can we do phone sessions? What are they like?
Yes! I love phone sessions! I find they are similar to meeting in person, but more convenient for busy lives and those who don’t live near me. You don’t have to worry about travel time or parking or what to wear!
You are encouraged to take care to make sure your sessions are at a time and place where you can focus and be private, this way you get to center on your needs and not worry about anybody else. Having a headset for your phone is often more comfortable, but not required.
back to top - Do you offer groups, classes or retreats?
I do offer group coaching programs. These are all teleclasses that take place by phone. Teleclass groups are fabulous and fun because of the energy of interacting with and learning from others. It’s also an excellent cost-saving option. Groups are 3-10 people and new groups are starting all the time. Inquire about them here.
I periodically offer day retreats. These are fun immersions in a topic or theme that is of interest. These are days to relax, rejuvenate and be creative together. Inquire about the next one here
back to top - What if my spouse or partner isn’t interested?
While it is ideal to have the support of your loved ones, sometimes they are not on-board or aware of the changes you desire. And it is not always necessary that they are.
We will work together to make the process comfortable for you, so that you have the support you need. Sometimes some clear communication and simple explanations can ease the resistance or concerns of your loved ones.
back to top - What do you charge?
My fees are reasonable and consistent with other practitioners of my skill and experience. Call me or inquire here and we can discuss if the timing is right for you and what the financial commitment is.
The last thing I want is for the cost of this to be an issue for you. If finances are a concern, I offer small groups that make the process more affordable. Or, I can recommend some low-cost referrals that may be available in the community.
back to top - How do I get started?
Two options: Inquire here or call me at 541/ 659-7284 and we can set up an appointment for an initial intake discussion. I look forward to hearing from you and getting started!
